The Heating Lamps

These are the most important things in a Leo's care. Heating lights or lamps are sold at Pet stores. Leopard Geckos need a 75 watt day bulb. A day bulb is different than a night bulb in quite a few ways. The day bulb has more watts which makes it warmer. A 75 watt day bulb is as high as you should go. It will create about 85 to 90* F. 32* C. You can buy a blue day bulb and a "sun color" day bulb. I wouldn't suggest a blue as it suckes calcium from their bones.

The night bulb should be 50 watts. No higher or lower than that. The night bulb should make 75 or 80 degrees F 23* C. You can get the night bulb in two colors as well. Red and "purple". The purple is black. But you can see a tiny Purple tint. They are both fine to use.

General Care

In my opinion, Leopard Geckos are one of the easiest Lizards to take care of. I base this on my family. We have two Leopard Geckos, two Crested Geckos and one Water Dragon. They are so nice and become instantly tame. You might end up with one you bites, but that's just the way ot is. It's like some people are really mean, and some are really nice. Taming doesn't take very long. And Leo's (Leopard Geckos) become tame easy. They have a simple diet and require simple care.

Leopard Gecko Acsessories

Leopard Geckos need a few things in their cages. I will list the essentials. Leo's need a water bowl. Make sure the bowl is only one to two inches deep. Otherwise the Leopard Gecko may drown. They need a warm hide or in other words hut. These you will find in you reptile section at the Petstore. I'm not going in detail about this because there are many different ones. Leo's also need a cool or cold hut which is placed on the side of the cage with a the night lamp on it. The hot hide goes on the side with the day lamp. Leopard Geckos need some sort of plant (not real) in their cage. Leo's need at least a 10 gallon tank. Any smaller is very bad. It can be 20 but no bigger for one as they will get stressed. If you have 2 then you need a 40! Lastly you need a screen lid or top. It needs to fit the size of the tank.
